Peter Britos is a writer-director and artist from Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.
Pete has worked in television, film, radio, telecommunications and academia.
A painter, filmmaker and novelist, his speculative fiction/sci-fi novel Valley of Spiraling Winds is published by University of Hawaiʻi Press.
The narrative universe and characters of the novel intersect with his indie feature film Halemanō - House of the Shark.
Of his novel, University of Hawaiʻi literary professor emeritus Paul Lyons observed:
"This work by Peter Britos is some of the most interesting extrapolative fiction written in and about Hawaiʻi to date—a truly exceptional, outsized, audacious, brilliant piece of writing, on the imaginative and conceptual scale of David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas or William Gibson’s Neuromancer.”
Britos holds an MFA in Screenwriting & PHD in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
He has taught Cinema Studies and Filmmaking at USC Film School, UC Santa Barbara Film Studies Department, University of Hawaiʻi Academy for Creative Media and Hawaiʻi Pacific University.
